Dave in Pittsburgh
Has anyone ever downloaded noise meter on their phone? I did this last week I googled noise meter and a few came up ,the two I choose are Decibel Meter and Sound Meter ,it’s truly amazing the harsh sounds we are hearing especially in restaurants. Try them it’s a lot of fun and let me know
HearPeers Heroes Mary Featherston Posted December 7, 2018 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted December 7, 2018 Ha, I have one on my tablet. I'd forgotten all about it, I don't use that tablet much anymore. But a few years back my husband took on City Hall and won, and did it by sitting in the driveway and measuring the sound of cars driving over the rumble strips that the city had put in along the highway....which is very close to all our houses. http://www.startribune.com/whistleblower-highway-5-rumble-strips-have-victoria-mn-residents-grumbling/211691021/ There was a city council meeting and the rumble strips were removed. One of the neighbors on the highway side of our street was being awakened all night long - he's the one who was talking about selling his house. I, of course, couldn't hear them at all. 🙂
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted December 7, 2018 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted December 7, 2018 I played with noise meter in restaurants to figure out when the Roger Pen could be used on restaurant tables AND remain in omni mode picking up all the voices (since the Pen switches to its directional mode as soon as sound levels are at 70 dB). There are not many restaurants that stay below 70 dB during lunch and dinner rushes. Another reason why the Roger Select will help people. It manages noise much better than the Pen.
