Hi

my name is Elizabeth I am new to this hearpeer.. i been having some issues with my cochlear implants Opus 2.. my opus 2 coil cord cable been messing up to the point it quit working where i couldn't hear at all... i been trying looking for a new coil cord cable for my opus 2 for almost two months now.. i been looking through website to order new one ( seem to have difficult time with it) and i couldn't believe when i went to my regular doctor appointment where i got my cholcear implant surgery 9 yrs ago ig, my doctor told me they ugrade the choclear implant and didnt have the equipment for my cholcear implant opus 2 coil cord cable... To be honest I was really upset and disappointed that I didnt get to able walk home from my doctor appointment to hear again.... ( i didnt want to change my cholcear implant to the upgrade yet i am proud of the one i was wearin until i want to change it later on my future)..

i miss hearing everything around me and i really really miss listening to music and talking on the phone.. i hate not hearing no sound and not able to understand my family and friend communicated with me, it is hard for me everyday for the past two months...

 All i wish is to hear again soon!!😔 is there someone out there who would give me some information on opus 2 equipment  for my cholcear implant opus 2 coil cord cable wire that i know i can order from online or someone who is not using them anymore that i look into or something... im sorry for being honest and being in my feeling desperated to hear again...

thanks you for reading this and if u know anything about it please message me and ill reply back.. I hope and pray something good will come my way today with a good luck!!! thanks you again.

               thanks you, Elizabeth

Which country are you located in? I’m surprised your doctors office couldn’t direct you to a replacement center. Good luck!

@lizard

Welcome Elizabeth.

I have OPUS 2 processors too.  I see you have had yours for over 5 years, right?  If it has been over 5 years, your warranty is over.  But until October 2019, you may be able to still purchase replacement parts.  After that date, Med-El will not be selling replacement parts for OPUS 2 nor fixing them if they break.

To see if  you can order the cable for OPUS 2, contact Med-El USA by email or by phone.  Hopefully they will sell it to you.

If Med-El USA stopped selling replacement parts for OPUS 2 already, search online.  There are online shops in the UK and in Europe that ship to the US.  I have seen OPUS 2 cables listed.

You can also join one of the CI FaceBook groups and ask if anyone has a cable they are willing to part with.

I did look on the US webstore for Med-El and although the OPUS 2 cables are listed there, the online shop does not allow me to purchase one.

I hope you find a cable soon.  I would be so lost without my CIs.  I am sorry you are in this position.

You may want to talk with your CI audiologist to see if your insurance will cover a upgrade since the OPUS 2 has been obsoleted by Med-El.

Good luck.  Let us know how things go for you.

@lizard

I asked Med-El USA and you CAN purchase cables for OPUS2 until October 2019.  $50. You may want to purchase a spare if you can.

email

customerservice.us@medel.com

They will help you.

The reason I could not purchase the cable in the web store is that you have to select BLACK even though black is the only color option.
