Hi Laura,

welcome to the forum!

I have tried the hearing loops at my local cinema and unfortunately I have to report they are useless. I think it is the location not the technology but they don't seem to be bothered trying to fix the problem. I had a range of problems from hearing nothing, having distorted sound and hearing two movies soundtrack which was very weird.

I have used the loop at my clinic (SCIC in Sydney) and it works wonderfully. I have been looking for other opportunities to try a loop but they're not that common here.

Matt

Hi Laura and welcome to HearPeers. I have had varying experiences with loops also. Overall, they can be wonderful. Westminster Abbey in London was great, The Myerson Opera House in Dallas, one good, one good. Hands on Hearing Seminars, great. There are chair sized loops and room sized loops available on Amazon and other places.

What are you trying to accomplish with a loop? With more information, please, we should be able to give you more specific information. Are you wanting to watch TV, is this for a church or other public venue, such as the Air Canada Centre?

Lots of questions, but we want to help you as much as possible. thanks

Well WAAY back when I only needed hearing aids, I tried out a loop system my Audi had in her waiting room which was quite small.

1) it was with hearing aid and not CI

2) it was a very small room

3) I was very surprised at how much it helped.

I think maybe in a home setting, it might work better than say in a theater or large auditorium. That is really the only experience I have had. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

Adam
