HearPeers Heroes Ivana Marinac Posted March 12, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 12, 2015 Hello Lisa, welcome to the group - can you explain us, what kind of implants because Med-El have various types of implants and it's not same whether we're talking about cochlear or middle ear or bone conduction implant. Also can you explain us - where his headache starts? Does he has/had migraines or neck issues until now? Bye! Miautamyy
HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted May 22, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 22, 2015 Lisa, I am not a doctor and do not feel comfortable giving medical advice. Your best bet would be to follow up with your surgeon and Audi. There could be many reasons for the headaches. I know it has been a little while since you have posted. Have the headaches eased up any? Adam
HearPeers Heroes Ivana Marinac Posted May 22, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 22, 2015 Adam - in your country Audi's are not doctors, and surgeons are concretely efficient but do not bother a lot about creative pathophysiologic process as taking good old patient history and building a real hypothesis. "- No, it's not possible - go to your GP's!"
HearPeers Heroes Ivana Marinac Posted May 22, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 22, 2015 Anyway and seriously - start to look from the point I mentioned up...somewhere...
Nicole Czarapata
I am curious if your son's headaches started right after implantation or is this something that started years later? My daughter also has a medel implant and has been having "migraines" that affect her CI for the last 6 years, when she was fine for the 10 years before that. HearPeers Heroes Kara of Canada Posted March 2, 2017 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 2, 2017 Ivana just a leg up! Here in Canada and US we don't go see our surgeons after surgery and everything is healed up. We only see the audiologist who will them if necessary will consult the surgeon as they work as a team here. So if I was to have a major issue the Audi would make me an appointment to see the surgeon.
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted March 3, 2017 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 3, 2017 I am in the US and I have annual exams by my CI surgeon.
HearPeers Heroes Kara of Canada Posted March 3, 2017 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 3, 2017 Wow. I do not have that option. So maybe I was wrong! Wouldn't be the first time!! Lol sorry Ivana
HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted March 4, 2017 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 4, 2017 I guess it depends on the doctor. I haven't seen my surgeon since the initial follow up after surgery. The only time I am to contact him is if I am having some sort of trouble
HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted March 4, 2017 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 4, 2017 Ivana, I am pretty lucky to have the surgeon I have. He actually does take in the whole picture with me in trying to figure out his next move if any with the many inner ear issues I have had. I have been blessed with a good one
Mitchell
In Canada you can make appointments to see a specialist within 6 months if you have seen the doctor before, outside of that you will need a referral. At least, thats how it works in my province.
HearPeers Heroes Kara of Canada Posted August 26, 2017 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted August 26, 2017 Yes we have a one year window for that here in Ontario. But I have the benefit of seeing my Audi whenever I need to.
