HearPeers Heroes Sandy Posted July 7, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 7, 2015 I went to my nephew's wedding on Saturday and, of course, the music was LOUD. When I left the hall and went outside, my brother and niece were talking to me, but I couldn't hear a word they said. I made sure my processor was on the right setting too. Has anyone else experienced this? I haven't been in a situation with music this loud, so was just wondering if it's normal after being bombarded with this loud sound. HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted July 7, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 7, 2015 Hi Sandy I can't say that that situation has ever happened to me. Where I work, the music can get pretty loud. How soon after you left did things return to normal?
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted July 8, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 8, 2015 Sandy, I believe you can use your Fine Tuner volume control to decrease the noise and the sensitivity button to shrink the area that the CI is picking up sound. Sure hope things are back to normal for you now. Mary Beth
HearPeers Heroes Sandy Posted July 8, 2015 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 8, 2015 It took about a half hour before it was back to normal. Thanks for the input Adam and Mary Beth. I think because these are electrodes, I wasn't expecting the noise to affect my hearing this way.
HearPeers Heroes Matt Posted July 8, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 8, 2015 Hi Sandy, this happened to me quite a few times before I developed a LOUD music program. I was worried that I had damaged the hardware somehow when it first happened.
HearPeers Heroes Sandy Posted July 8, 2015 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 8, 2015 Thanks Matt. Did your audiologist set it up?
HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted July 8, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 8, 2015 MaryBeth You are absolutely correct. I never use the fine tuner. I didn't see much benefit from it so I had my Audi give me a program for noisy environments. Sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted July 9, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 9, 2015 Sandy, I'm glad you are back to normal. I will learn from your experience as I have a wedding this weekend.
HearPeers Heroes Matt Posted July 10, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 10, 2015 Thanks Matt. Did your audiologist set it up? Yes - but totally at my direction. I go to a lot of electronic stuff which is really bass heavy so we reduced the bass a lot more than normal. I have two programs, one for loud music and one for REALLY LOUD music. HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted July 10, 2015 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted July 10, 2015 Smart idea That loud of music doesn't hurt your ears or get you dizzy?
