Has anyone over 60 participate in Med el's FSP processing strategy?

Hello everyone,

Getting ready for my CI surgery on 12/22.

My Audi asked me to participate in a Med el study called FSP. It's a study to evaluate programming parameters to see if different parameters are better or worse for older (that's me) adults over 60. This program would be used on me for the 1st year.

Anyone out there try this?

Elaine

Don't fit the age limit to take study. Curious to see results in that age group. I imagine it would help. If I remember correctly it is designed to really help with speech in noise

It will come fast Elaine. Make sure to have lots of time to rest and someone around if you need anything. Good luck with the study too!!

I was part of a research project for a doctoral thesis. The person worked for Medel. Her study was on whether 2 implants actually are better than one. They flew me cross country for the weekend all paid by them. I spent many hours for 2 days in various sound booths. Learned SOOO much about CIs, how they work, hearing, how the brain interprets everything. This was 6 months after going bilateral. If you ever have the opportunity to participate in a study, I would jump on it.

To echo Kara, good luck on your upcoming surgery

Thanks everyone. I have a friend who is a nurse driving 13 hours so she can take care of me. Am I fortunate or what?

I will touch base with you later on.
