Heather W
Hello everyone, I finally took the plunge and hooked up audiostream for the first time. First I connected it to my iPhone, but then I switched it over to my iPad since that is the device where I watch tv and such and read off my kindle app. The next day, I had to go through all kinds of hoopla to get my CI connection back on my phone just for programming control (without AS). Can we not pair with more than one device? Any help would be much appreciated. I was so wary to try streaming for fear I would mess something up! HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted May 14, 2023 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 14, 2023 @Heather W I only paired AudioStream to my iPhone so I do not know. Maybe @Jared Charney @Tim @Ralph34 can help.
Ralph34
@Heather W AudioStream can only connect to one device at a time. If BlueTooth is turned on on both devices it will grab one and you will have an awful time getting connected to the other. For example : once you have gone through the almost random connection routine for one device, say the iPhone , turn off the Bluetooth on it and then try the iPad.. I can flip the connection to my phone by simply turning off the Bluetooth on the iPad. When I want to go back I turn on the Bluetooth on the iPad and off in the iPhone. ONLY HAVE ONE BT TURNED ON AT A TIME. The easy way to turn on and off the BT is to swipe the screen up on the iPhone or down on the iPad. My iPad works best by swiping down on the top right corner. A screen will open showing the BT button among others. I hope this is not too confusing. Another tip is: a quick way to see if you are connected is: QUICKLY triple click the Home button ( the big button on the edge front of the iPhone or ipad). A little pop up will come and say “ “ Hearing Device”. If it shows a battery symbol , you are connected. I hope this helps. It is not so complicated once you get used to it. Good luck : Mary Beth and Kylie 1
HearPeers Heroes Kylie Posted May 14, 2023 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 14, 2023 Yep when I switch I also just turn off the Bluetooth on other devices it has used. Saves the confusion.
Heather W
So I’m not trying to pair the AudioStream to both devices, at least right now. But because I have to use the AudioKey app on my iPad to pair with AS, it seemed to knock out the remote feature and regular pairing with my CI (without the AS cover). Does that make sense? I will definitely try turning off the Bluetooth on my iPad though when I’m done streaming. Thanks!
Members Tim
@Heather W Others have better advice because I'm an Android user but what I did is have two dedicated setups for my rehab exercises. #1: Sonnet2 and AudioStream to phone. #2: Rondo3 with AudioLink wired to tablet. This pretty lets me avoid having any wrestling between devices for Bluetooth connections.
Heather W
Thanks Tim. That’s a good idea too, but just figuring out the AudioStream. Haven’t even unboxed the AudioLink. I keep missing the MedEl Mondays on these topics because I have a standing commitment on Monday evenings. I’ll get there! Just slowly! Lol! HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted May 14, 2023 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 14, 2023 @Heather W If you accessed AudioKey2 on your iPad with your Sonnet2, it may be still in that connection. Have you tried turning off your iPad (or its BT), having your iPhone close by and restarting your Sonnet2?
Lauren
@Heather W I’ve found the AudioStream likes picking a connection and sticking with it. If changing devices, I turn BT off on the device I do not want to use and restart the processor and force it to pair with the intended device. There been moderate success as of BT pops on it could “grab” the connection so I just keep my eye on it. I only have this problem when switching back and forth between devices. If I switch and stick with say my iPad there’s no problem.
Jared Charney
@Heather WI personally gave up a long time ago and only stream with my Iphone as I had constant issues with limited success.
Ralph34
@Heather W One other thing to mention is: AudioKey2 is useful in Initially establishing the pairing between the AudioStream and iPhone etc but it is a separate connection. In other words : the iPhone and iPad can connect perfectly well with AudioStream (not simultaneously ) but AudioKey says “Disconnected.” AudioKey is a flakey app sometimes it says disconnected when it is in fact connected. For example right now I can flip between my iPhone and iPad perfectly well by switching off the appropriate BT . My AudioKey says Disconnected.??? HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted May 16, 2023 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 16, 2023 @Ralph34 when your audioKey2 app says disconnected, my guess is you can not use it as a remote at that time. Correct? AudioKey2 is needed to initially configure AudioStream BUT it is not needed after that unless a firmware update is released (which I believe has only happened once so far). Ralph34
Correct. Once your devices are paired to the AudioStream you can forget about AudioKey . AudioKey then is only good for changing settings. Even when I go to my Med-el rep, they don’t seem to understand this. Those online Med-el demonstrations make it seem so simple, but when your connection doesn’t want to work it can take 30 minutes or more of fooling around to establish that connection. So don’t give up. Fortunately I have been solid connection for 6 months or more. (Touching wood). Mary Beth
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted May 16, 2023 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 16, 2023 @Ralph34 It may be very helpful to others if you report this AudioKey2 issue in the App Store. Then a Med-El app specialist will connect with you and you can share your experiences with the app directly with the team that designs it.
