HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted March 11, 2019 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 11, 2019 A developer of an aural rehab app for adults has asked me to Beta test the app before its general release. I have no connection to the developer nor any financial gain by users choosing to purchase the app. It has made me wonder though, would you purchase an aural rehab app for $30/year that contained these types of activities and tracked your errors: LING sounds minimal pair words different by vowel minimal pair words different by consonant presented alone and mid sentence presented in quiet and in noise Or do you feel like we have access to free aural rehab apps/websites/activities which cover this already? Hicksy
To some, $30 per year is a lot of money, to others, a drop in a bucket so I’m sure there is some kind of market. I do think it would have to be pretty unique from the free apps though to gain any traction. Mary Beth
Dave in Pittsburgh
Yes I agree $30 is way too expensive too many just as good apps for free

HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted April 27, 2019 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted April 27, 2019 @pdk I had never heard of IMAP so I did a search and registered for the free music program. You have used it and liked it obviously. Tell us about it please.
pdk
. 2. IMAP (www.morefrommusic.org) This program is much more entertaining , but also gives you plenty of challenges. It caters for music appreciation, from basic scales up to 10 or 12 piece orchestras. The small examples feature single instruments. Flute, violin electric guitar and piano. With each piece of music there is a video, you can change the speed , the pitch, and for the orchestras you can selectively listen to each instrument. It has a few fun percussion units which allow you to compose your own piece. It runs on XP through windows 8. You also have to install quicktime and java (from the same site) It's big, 3.4 GB which you download session by session. You download the IMAP part to a folder of your choice and just run IMAP.exe) Mary Beth
pdk
Hi Mary Beth Did you checkout IMAP? Are you familiar with speech banana? Only runs on recent iPad.
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted May 5, 2019 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted May 5, 2019 @pdk I did check out IMAP a bit. I prefer apps or programs that run on my iPad and IMAP requires me to be at my computer. I need to set time aside to explore it more thoroughly. I am not a fan of speech banana. There are too many glitches in that app for me. Do you like it?
