HearPeers Heroes Mary Featherston Posted April 1, 2021 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted April 1, 2021 Did you know that back in the 1980s my employer was involved in cochlear implant development? https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamaotolaryngology/article-abstract/616458
HearPeers Heroes Mary Featherston Posted April 1, 2021 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted April 1, 2021 This one's better, you don't have to subscribe to jama: https://www.mayoclinicproceedings.org/article/S0025-6196(12)60301-2/pdf Also it mentions the Hochmairs by name. HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted April 1, 2021 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted April 1, 2021 @Mary Featherston That is so cool! I wish it explained 3-M’s part in detail. It also shows how far we have come since the mid 80s!

That business isn't part of the company anymore, but I would imagine that the work on the cochlear implant started there. I actually had a 3M hearing aid at one point - I must have been in high school. Dad worked at 3M and got a discount. 🙂 Mary Beth
