Glad it went well and that you are one step closer to being bilateral.

I does take time for incisions to heal. Issue is, there really isn't anything you can do to speed things along. Just keep an eye on it and be patient

Glad you got an appointment Kara. I agree with Mary Beth as I had my surgery 12/22 and I don't feel any tenderness at all. I wear my CI all day long and it doesn't bother me.

Hope everything works out, but you may need to be proactive here.

Yes thaunk you all!! It's a work in progress. Audi had said my hearing levels have pretty much levelled out as well. She did want me to come up a bit In the future but she wasn't worried about that.

Thanks Sandy. You should write a letter to your hospital too. I basically put that we really comprise a small part of our society and it would benefit us to have a longer happier life with 2 strong ears. They accepted that. Don't give up hope. If it doesn't work try another hospital. Like SunnyBrook. I can give you the information if you want.

Elaine I didn't feel the tenderness till after a month when the numbness wore off.

Kara

I wouldn't worry too much. Things will work out. Some take longer to heal than others. Keep chipping away.

Well, in my opinion, as well as boards decide against bilaterality they should understand it better in a functional way. It's not really fair to decide just by quantity than quality. There are number of tests which can prove how far the implantee come with the process of (re)habilitation. If this would be so simple even insurance companies could make decisions - why bother with doc's? :)

Well at my next visit I will be having a hearing test and other things. As well as discussing what they would expect from me in that regards. So one month from now!!

Thanks for the information Kara. I will be talking to my audiologist regarding this as well as composing a letter. My only concern is that they chose my good ear to do the surgery as opposed to the one I could hear nothing.
