Hi moderator, any reason why phonak is not listed, is the reason marketing or technology.

Hi @Dianna, thanks for your question.

The reason lies in the technology of the Phonak devices, as they do not use the ASHA protocol, but Bluetooth Classic. Therefore, AudioStream cannot work with them, since AudioStream uses ASHA and Apple LEA protocol.

Kind regards, Barbara

Probably because Phonak has their own intermediary devices not to mention I believe all the Phonak HAs have actual BT vs BTLE so the way things connect may be different.  How?  I dunno as am not that versed in the various properties of each type of connections.

It’s possibly the single most irritating issue as a Bimodal user and as an Apple user, they keep dropping the ball on this.  I know a developer a few betas ago had some news for me concerning it but we could never touch base.  And it doesn’t appear iOS 16 will support ASHA-like protocols yet again.  It’s on both MedEl and Apple to work together and they sorta have been but not to the extent needed to support more than one (different)hearing device in their accessibility menu.  Maybe Apple is trying to create their own protocol more in line with their standards?  🤷🏼‍♂️

I do know that while certain Android phones can do two hearing devices, they tend to apparently sound kinda bad but haven’t met somebody who can give a full review of it yet.  Glad to see medel now have a lot more HAs supported so that’s a step in the right direction

Bimodal streaming with AudioStream (Sonnet/Sonnet2) to some android phones and some hearing aid models has greatly expanded.

Has anyone tried this yet?

Good morning hear peers!

Who here has a hearing aid they love?

If you are looking for recommendations, you probably would be better off asking a trusted audiologist who isn't affiliated with any brand. It's a very individual matter, depending on the degree of hearing loss, and also preferences to how the sound should be presented.  Someone who knows the devices in-depth could tell you about how the processing differs between them, and what could suit you best.

Hi all,

I just ordered a pink oticon more 3, try period is 30 days from fitting. Should be pretty quick. I am going to a clinic at the same university, but separate department. My audi and audi's in training goal is best sound for me, so first is the more. This is a speech/hearing/communications clinic, teaching students and helping folks, also research...i am hoping to have fun with all this. Kinda scary tho, the clinic is named "wendell johnson memorial" clinic famous for the worst research project, lol. Google the guy

I will definately report back on the streaming!

Good morning!

Yesterday i received my oticon ha! I had a total of 6 students (post grad) gathered around so fitting and testing was with multiple peeps! My azbio test in quiet was 99 percent! I repeated 137 or 139 words best ever! Test in noise was horrible lol but aid is new like i can hear fans again ha ha. So i have 2 weeks to test the heck out of it.

We set up audio link and set it in the room and i had stereo!!!!!!! So for gruops and stuff i will be using the audio link but right now i am streaming music in both ears with my phone.....LOVELY!!!!

The audiostream on ci volume is so low i had to adjust the sound down on ha and adjust hearing on my phone to minimal on ha side and raise volume on phone to almost maximum to get balance. So far im pleased with ha "filling in the blanks" with music while still a little "tinny" on the ha side and more natural on the ci side!!!!!!

Stereo is sooooo fiiiiine right now.

To stream i use phone (samsung 9 +) audiostream and oticon on app. The audiostream fades and disconnects before oticon but tapping the screens on phone brings back quick.

I have much more playing to do but im just loving toni tennile right now. I have to go listen to all my stuff in stereo for a time before reporting back.

Oh well after my ha appt i had a family dinner party to go to....i marveled at what the ha gave me! More directional sound i heard everybody! Even at dinner, without audiolink, i could hear more "sharpened" sound. Less than 24 hours and im thrilled!

One more thing, i kept having low battery warnings and had to slide off and on 3 times on brand new batteries, still using same batteries so obviously they were good no warnings today so far.

Terrific!

I don’t understand how Med-El’s AudioLink is sending audio to your Oticon hearing aid.  Will you describe how that is set up please?

Oticon one app open

Bluetooth on for the hearing device named (dianna) on my phone (its my right ear)

Audio key left light on (ci left ear)

Both mic light and >.< tabs are on

According to my phone setup im bt only to the ha but im hearing.

I have to go start over sorry im not sure which app is actually on because my audio key is not "connected" right now. However the audiokey is showing left and right!!!!!!!!!! So i need to turn everything off so i can start up and let you know what was set up. The audi did some things while i was answering excited questions from the students so i missed something. Both oticon on app and audiokey were running yesterday but not displaying same today.

Key thing is my ha shows up in the audio key app when it didnt before

Stay tuned

@Dianna

No worries and no rush.  You have new tech to play with.

It’s my understanding that you, like @Bill C, can stream directly from your android phone to both your Sonnet/Sonnet2 with the AudioStream cover and your compatible dual streaming hearing aid.  That is a cool new feature called dual audio that works with some android phones and some hearing aid models.  @Bill C is loving it!  I am glad the AudioStream is compatible with that android dual audio for bimodal streaming.  It opens up a lot of choices for bimodal users.

As far as I know the Med-El connectivity device called AudioLink ONLY works with Sonnet/Sonnet2 and Rondo3.  It is proprietary and does not deliver audio to any hearing aid.  If you have a way of using AudioLink with your Oticon hearing aid, let us know.

Enjoy your new tech and new improved listening!

After you do settle on a HA for sure, ask your CI audiologist to set your Sonnet2 to match the timing in that hearing aid.  It is supposed to help with locating the precise location of sounds.  Enjoy!

It’s called bimodal synchronization and is a setting in the CI software for Sonnet2.

So right now i hear sound in both ears.

Audiokey2 ap on, connection type is audiolink.

Bluetooth on for the hearing device named (dianna) is the ha

Bluetooth on for audiolink.

So android phone has 2 bt connections on for each hearing device i think the sonnet is on but not bt.

The Audio key left light on (ci left ear) and Both mic light and >.< tabs are on

According to my phone setup im bt to audiolink and hearing aid.

So the audiokey2 app has 2 devices showing now! Is that weird??

I have a samsung galaxy 9 +

Omg i am playing with music i cant get enough! Its like having headphones but not! I always loved/ hated earphones because i could not hear much else so got kind of jumpy. Now i can listen to music but hear other stuff!

Ok, send questions i will do my best.

Im heading out soon so i can reset my car stereo to normal, lol, now that i have some hearing help im sure my sound system is lopsided and needs resetting, you know like left, right, back, front, treble/bass all that stuff you cant do while driving

@Dianna

Turn off AudioLink and no need to go back or have on the AudioKey2 app.

Put the AudioStream on Sonnet2.

If your HA and AudioStream have been paired to your android dual audio phone, you should hear streaming in both the HA and the Sonnet2.

This is direct streaming so no need for AudioLink.

Yes, i can. Its pretty good so far. While streaming spotify i have stereo in my ears. I can tell parts of the music "missing" from ci side so im hearing more parts...also lyrics.

Without streaming or help the ha is giving me more sounds .. awesome!

I am "hearing" tired! I beat it up yesterday while driving to a casino, had double overload lol then while driving home the ha disconnected weirdly.  By weirdly i mean sound got strange then cut out. When i could i had to shut it down and reconnect..happened again later.

Today im testing at a large outdoor festival, wish me luck!!!

I could not stream my tv last night with the ha, i think i need to put speakers back on and use audiolink if i want stereo on that tv. As far as the main house tv i can definately hear more clear and farther away which is a great improvement for me! I can turn my back and still hear it! With ci only im still hearing when i face it, but with added ha i have directional!!!!

Its really tiring me out so more later!

Update:

I can stream music (or have phone call) to both devices.

Its amazing, im actually hearing the lyrics better.

The ha is definately the better streamer, the "one" application has a three step equalizer for low mid and high..

Audiostream was on the quieter side, but decreased the ha side to a point i could still hear parts and raised the vol on phone.

Kinda made me a little emotional, but it felt great to hear in both ears...the ha is definately boosting my natural hearing so filled in alot of "blanks" when hearing both at the same time. Will be even better when if i have "programs" added.

While audiostream disconnected a few times, and a pain to get connected (did alot of off and on) and was affected a little by phone operation, the oticon did not have a single burp for 2.5 hours of streaming lovely music. Sounding less like "am radio" today too.

Yesterday i was out all day at a HUGE tractor event called threshers reunion. There was sound all over. I did very well. No special devices, just sonnet2 and oticon. I had everything set at medium, couldnt bear trying omni. Even lowered ha. I had few problems and actually had conversations with people. My nephew had to repeat a few times but not too much, considering. This event had multiple trains, steam engines, motors, noise noise noise. Places where motors were just running, loud popping just awesome.  I loved it, even the ones popping lol. There were buildings full of huge steam engines that powered shop equipment. Everybody get the atmosphere idea? And on top a loudspeaker!

So testing is 👍

@Bill Ward

Have you tried testing this by staying in a location with Wi-Fi where AudioStream and your iPhone are streaming fine and then turning Wi-Fi off on your phone and seeing what happens?

My experiences with AudioStream are more about being inside versus outside.  When I am outside the phone needs to be closer to AudioStream to stay connected than when I am inside.

@Bill Ward

AudioStream does not use Wi-Fi for streaming from phone to Sonnet/Sonnet2.  It uses BTLE.

I would suggest having your iPhone forget the device under accessibility- hearing devices.

Then go into AudioKey2 and check for a firmware update and configure the AudioStream again.

I had to do that several times before AudioStream worked well and stayed connected to my iPhone.  I will tag you where I described my experience.
