HearPeers Heroes Kara of Canada Posted March 19, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 19, 2016 This is a funny page. I actually am the one who changes the battereis in the smoke detectors. Yes their loud. A sound I still find very overwhelmingly loud is the sound if the pots and pans banging together. I keep them stacked together so they make this noise regularly. Horrible. I have found myself taking the d coil off when getting a pot. Yes I have mentioned it to the Audi a few times but I haven't made a big deal about it I need to adapt. To not hear it. By learning to block it out. It's very hard sometimes.
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted March 19, 2016 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 19, 2016 Kara, I went through that with pots, pans, dishes, etc. I moved those items gently to lessen the terrible sounds. Then my brain sorted it all out and now it is not a problem. It's a phase many of us go through. Not pleasant- but temporary. Good luck. HearPeers Heroes Sandy Posted March 19, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 19, 2016 My detector is loud but also flashes when it goes off. I knew when it was going to go off because my cat would race to the basement.
HearPeers Heroes Kara of Canada Posted March 19, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 19, 2016 Well that's another example of a coping mechanism.
HearPeers Heroes Ivana Marinac Posted March 19, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 19, 2016 Mmm... Last week (with my new set up) I started to fully understand people even if it is too loud background. Before this I usually switch immediately my program even before entering into a pub. Lot is going on around me and still can handle the situation - yey, I guess I can declare it for this week highlight like Kara: excellent work! Keep trying! HearPeers Heroes Kara of Canada Posted March 26, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 26, 2016 Thanks Ivana. I am doing my best. Yesterday we had to clear our driveway of ice. The noise of scraping the ice was a bit overwhelming but I stayed and continued to listen and shovel it away.
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted March 26, 2016 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 26, 2016 Not a new sound but a happy sound for sure. Whirley Pop popcorn
HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted March 28, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 28, 2016 What is Whirley popcorn?
HearPeers Heroes Mary Beth Posted March 28, 2016 Author HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 28, 2016 It's a light metal popcorn maker that you use on the stove so when the popcorn pops and hits the light metal sides and top cover it sounds awesome! Tastes quite good too.

HearPeers Heroes Kara of Canada Posted March 29, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 29, 2016 I make it in a pot. Very simple. Cheaper and healthier.

HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted March 30, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 30, 2016 One thing that is popular here is Kettle corn. The popcorn is cooked in a big kettle over fire and sugar and a little salt is added
HearPeers Heroes Ivana Marinac Posted March 30, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 30, 2016 Sugar? We eat pop-corn salty (and just a pinch greasy). Mary Beth
HearPeers Heroes Adam Posted March 30, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 30, 2016 Ivana, most everybody does here as well. There are many though, that like kettle corn. I personally don't prefer it
HearPeers Heroes Ivana Marinac Posted March 30, 2016 HearPeers Heroes Report Share Posted March 30, 2016 This reminds me to the fact that people in Hungary eat a sweet salad. Hungary is a border-country with mine but our eating habits are not similar. Our salad must be oiled and acidic. Who can expect this...
