HearPeers First Ever Video Meeting was a success!

Thank you @Kylie, @Jewel and @Mary Featherston for volunteering to give a HearPeers video meeting a try.  It was so wonderful to get to see each of you and talk together.

Now that we know how to do it....smile.... we can definitely schedule more HearPeers   Virtual Coffee Chats!

We were from time zones that spanned 12 hours!  So we were early morning, mid morning and evening.

The way we set up our first HearPeers Virtual Coffee Chat was through Google Meet.  Google Meet is free for all and has live automatic captioning that can be turned on by each user.  The captions are labeled by who is speaking.

We organized a day and time through HearPeers private mail.

Who is interested in joining us next time?

It was great seeing you all and taking live!

I hardly ever drink coffee as it makes me sleepy! Strange huh! Btw Jamaica's Blue Mountain coffee is rated among the best in the world.

I was really impressed with Google Meet and the accuracy of the captions.

I look forward to future virtual coffee chats 😊

That's fantastic!! I have Google duo on my mobile which I've not used ,as didn't see any caption available. So have downloaded the Google meet. Seems straightforward. It works on my kindle as well. Will be trying it out a bit more today.....

@Mary Beth yes, the time zones made it interesting.  When we signed off Kylie said good night and that she was heading off to bed!  I had just finished breakfast before signing on.

Yeah I can't drink coffee before bed! But next time I'll make tea. It's getting colder at nights. Thank goodness for ugg boots.

Maybe our video meetings need a new name?

Video meeting sounds like a work assignment.

We need a name that is more fun.  Any suggestions?

@Mary Beth would love it. There is a snag though.

Both on my mobile and kindle I'm unable at the moment to use the layout options it does not seem available for these but only for pc or laptop???

I can get captions at least!!

I've still not received my Rondo 2 processor yet because of the pandemic. so still deaf and apparently I'm very loud vocally!!!!

So would it be best if I join in when I've got it? What do you all think?

Hi Mary Beth. I'd love to join next time. I teach a class once or twice a week via Zoom at a university here in Tokyo, so I'm used to video meetings. Soooooo much more convenient (and safer nowadays!) than traveling across town. I haven't used Google Meet yet, but I have a Gmail account, so I'm sure I can sort it out easily enough. There's a 13 hour difference between Tokyo and NYC but I'm used to working all hours so no problem. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. Kirk
